Tales emails tell!

The ideal online scenario appears to be when response levels
are great and orders flow in by their dozens. Unfortunately,
this does not happen all the time (in fact, most of the
times), and most of us start losing heart when mails flow in
slowly and in trickles. Yet there is a lesson to be learnt
from this, a way to convert these responses into surefire
customers.

Did you know that even receiving mails which on the surface
appear negative could actually be very positive? Usually they
are couched as (i) doubts, (ii) indifference and
(iii) objections. The not-so-savvy online marketers let these
valuable prospects actually slip out of their grasp. Don't
make that mistake - ever!

First let's take the case of doubts. Doubts are a strong
indication of interest in your products. Never ignore a
doubt - it can teach you a lot about how your product is
perceived and help you communicate better! Reply with a
convincing copy, preferably long, clarifying the doubt.
Reinforce this with actual proof - a couple of testimonials
that are relevant. You'll soon find that many 'doubters' can
actually become good customers.

Now, let's take a peek at indifferent responses. You won't
believe it but they are actually waiting to be converted! A
really indifferent person would not bother to write back,
preferring to ignore you.

When people take the trouble to write back to you saying
they have no use for your product, they actually want to do
business with you but are not sure your product addresses
their needs. Maybe they haven't got the facts about your
products right. Understand their needs and convince them why
your product is just right for them.

It's also likely they're strong opinion leaders and it would
be a good idea to keep in touch with them. Reply with
warmth - who knows, many of them could turn out to be the most
loyal advocates of your product!

Objections are the most skillfully hidden 'buy' signals. A
little bit of effort, and these could get your cash registers
jingling. For instance, if someone objects to your product
complaining about its high price, you could take one of two
approaches. The first is to handle the objection by explaining
how it could actually save the prospect money by helping cut
down on other costs normally incurred. The second innovative
approach is to give a special offer, on condition the prospect
could help you sell more, say by writing an advertorial in
his/her newsletter - immediately tempting to buy. This is
very likely to succeed since it directly addresses the objection.

Go ahead, decode your mails and make a mountain of success
stories!
