Conquering online markets!

As you embark on online marketing, there are two scenarios
I can picture. Either your mind is a blank slate, or your
mind is reeling wondering which products to promote. Either
way, this is where you need to tread cautiously. Most online
businesses fall into the trap of trying to sell
undifferentiated products or services and failing miserably.
A case in point is
the online marketing spiel. Formulas for
success are marketed under virtually every form possible -
as e-books, articles, workshops, case studies bundled with
attractive offers, freebies and what have you. Just a few,
who manage to make their voices heard in the ruckus, succeed.
The top three in the prospect's mind survive while the others
simply fade away.
Now that you are
a late comer, what are the opportunities
available? It would be great if you could bring out an
innovative new product. But this calls for a great deal of
research, resources, sustainability, a good understanding of
brand management and a high level of risk. Are you ready for
this?
If you've skipped
the above idea, here's the next
alternative. Become an affiliate or dealer of a suite of
leading good products and services. However, the market here
could be saturated by the time you enter. To combat this, the
trick is to look for upcoming, new products or services -
those on the way to success, and grow with them. This is a
wonderfully cost-effective route to success, since you are
spared all those heavy investments, risks and branding efforts.
You just have to promote the products online while the sale
is
taken care of by your principal.
You could, in fact,
differentiate these branded products/
services by value adding to these with your own dash of
ingenuity and creativity. Bear in mind that you are competing
with thousands of affiliates. Try out small budget promos,
offers and activities that will have customers coming to your
site. Many affiliates have been known to even better their
principals in sales!
Another idea which
may really work is a combination of the
first two models. First, set up your physical presence in a
small focused geographical market, say your own state or
locality. Offer the residents services or products which are
truly unique and extend the presence online. This is a low
investment, low risk model, with high rates of success.
Now go ahead and
plunge into the markets waiting for you!
